Abstract:  With the ultimate aim of combatting racism within the labour movement, the Cross Cultural Communication Centre, under the auspices of the Humber Collage for Labour Studies, ran a ten-week, 30 hour pilot course entitled 'Work Racism and Labour.' Assisted by the Ontario Federation of Labour and other labour educators, the course is outlined in the book entitled COMBATTING RACISM IN THE WORKPLACE: A COURSE FOR WORKERS and in the accompanying READING KIT. The two publications provide a through guide for experienced labour educators.

The course provides:
- information and arguments to resist prejudiced beliefs;
- a clear understanding of why all workers should collectively combat racism in their place of work and in their communities;
- approaches for dealing with racial confilct and harassment in the workplace;
- methods of identifying and acting against racism in the union;
- an analysis of employer connections to racism in the workplace and the links between racism and class
opression;
- an understanding of the sources of racist and explanations of their society;
- strategies for futher educting themselves and their workers; and
- strategies for mobilizing collective energies to fight racism in all its forms in the workplace and in the
community.
